Ariva AI

Agentic AI

From copilots to autonomous apparel operations.

“Agentic AI” gets used to describe everything from a chatbot to a fully autonomous system. In practice, it’s a spectrum — and most operations should move along it one step at a time, not skip straight to autonomy. This is the model we use to scope where a workflow sits today, and what the next responsible step looks like.

The Maturity Model

Five levels. Each one requires more trust than the last.

01

Assist

AI answers questions and surfaces information on request. A person does all the work; AI just makes it faster to find what they need.

Illustrative Example

A team member asks an AI copilot to summarize a retailer's routing guide before filing a shipment.

02

Recommend

AI reviews a situation and suggests a course of action, but takes no action itself. A person decides whether to follow the recommendation.

Illustrative Example

AI flags a chargeback pattern and recommends which deductions are worth disputing.

03

Prepare

AI does the preparatory work — gathering evidence, drafting a response, assembling a case — so a person only has to review and decide.

Illustrative Example

AI assembles the PO, ASN, and invoice evidence for a disputed chargeback into a ready-to-submit package.

04

Execute with Approval

AI carries out the action itself, but only after a person or policy rule approves it. Nothing happens without a checkpoint.

Illustrative Example

AI files the dispute automatically once a manager approves the prepared evidence package.

05

Governed Autonomy

AI acts within pre-approved policy boundaries without a person in the loop for every instance — with full logging, audit trails, and the ability to intervene at any time.

Illustrative Example

Low-risk, high-confidence disputes under a defined threshold are filed automatically, with every action logged and reviewable.

The apparel examples above illustrate how each level applies to operational work — they are not a claim that every level is shipped or in production today. Where an Ariva agent is live, we say so explicitly. Where a capability is planned or in development, we label it that way.
